What a day at ChiMi looks like
Morning tea while the sun moves across the floor. A quiet afternoon. Warm lamps, the projector screen and a film at night. A day here is exactly that gentle.
The question we get asked most is what there is to do at a homestay all day. The honest answer is not very much, and that is rather the point.
Morning
Sleep in a little. Make a pot of tea from the set waiting on the table, pull the curtains open and sit somewhere while the sun works its way across the wooden floor. Every room at ChiMi has a real window, so mornings rarely need a light switch.
If you want proper coffee, walk to the end of the alley, where a couple of places open early. If you would rather not leave the room, there is coffee and matcha in the house.
Afternoon
This is when ChiMi is at its quietest. The alley carries little traffic and the house sits well back from the street, so you barely hear a horn. Many guests take a long nap. Others open a laptop at the wooden desk by the window and get a few hours of work done.
When you get hungry, food delivery comes right to the door, or a few minutes on foot brings you to a local restaurant.
Evening
Switch on the warm lamps and the whole room changes tone. Pull down the projector screen, start a film and stretch out on the sofa bed. In the rooms with a bathtub there is one more step, a long soak before the film starts.
No noise, no rush. Just a small, gentle place to rest in the middle of Saigon.
Who it suits
It suits anyone who needs a pause in the middle of a working week. Couples who want a private evening. Travellers on a late flight who need a bed near the airport. And anyone who wants to escape the city for a few days without actually leaving it.
